Mägnety Magnettage Germany Event Highlight

Magnettage Germany 2026

2026.03.05

Aalen University, Germany

Mägnety attended MagnetDays2026 at Aalen University. The conference is organized by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM) together with Aalen University, with the Aalen University – Materials Research Institute Aalen (IMFAA) as the local host, as well as Pforzheim University and Technische Universität Darmstadt

Great to have attended the Magnettage2026 event at Aalen University in Germany

Mägnety : It was nice to know the event info, meet many faces again in the past events and have deeper discussions that could open up exciting opportunities for future collaboration.

Before attending the event, besides reviewing the agenda, I happened to read a publication from Rare Earth Exchanges about this event: “Europe’s magnet strategy is not built on domestic rare earth mining dominance, but on engineering efficiency and circularity. Europe is not trying to out-mine China. It is trying to out-engineer vulnerability.”

The one-day event offered a very structured overview from multiple perspectives across the magnet ecosystem:

🔹Presentations on magnetic research activities from several leading universities and research institutions 👨‍🔬 👩‍🔬 , highlighting different research directions and approaches, and working toward identifying viable materials to address potential gaps.

🔹Insights from the user perspective, including future application technologies, presented by ZF Group.
🔹Recycling strategies and alternative solutions by Fraunhofer IWKS.

🔹A perspective on global production capabilities from the magnet producer side, presented by VACUUMSCHMELZE.
🔹Updates on upcoming regulations and opportunities to participate in various industry working groups.
🔹A valuable situation and viable resource analysis, and a new book presented by Ppm Materials GmbH.
, reflecting significant research efforts.

After the conference, one reflection stands out to me:

Different regions may have their own missions and priorities for development, but the shared commitment to progress and prosperity is clear.

During my pre-event research, I also came across a mission statement from the Steinbeis Foundation that I particularly appreciate: “Making scientific knowledge available to the country’s economy. Knowledge and technology transfer based on conviction.”

As the saying goes, science and technology are the primary productive forces. Competition is everywhere, but collaboration remains a powerful way to create win-win outcomes.

It was very valuable to exchange ideas with many German participants at this event, and it was also a pleasure to connect with attendees from Austria, the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland during the networking dinner and throughout the conference.

Ich wünsche allen einen guten Start in die Woche!
