Discover Key Moments and Insights
Mägnety is a member of the UK Magnetics Society.
Really happy to have attended this insightful event hosted by UK Magnetics Society chaired by Graeme Finch, moderated by Gareth Hatch, focusing on 🧲 magnetic materials, rare earth supply chains, and related technologies.
It was great to hear perspectives from academia, industry, and intelligence experts, and to connect with professionals across the magnetics and materials community. Many thanks to organizers and all speakers for such a well-structured and thought-provoking event.
Especially enjoyed the second day’s speaker panel discussion moderated by Benjamin Davies of REIA – The Global Rare Earth Industry Association, covering key topics including rare earth and magnet supply chains, recycling, regional manufacturing facilities, stockpiling strategies, evolving mechanism, and new definition.
It was also glad to bring Mägnety’s innovative business model idea to the UK and exchange thoughts with the attendees during both the sessions and the conference dinner.
The event covered a wide range of topics, including:
🔷 Drug delivery using superconducting PM – Zhenyang Xu (King’s College London)
🔷 Prediction and modelling of magnetic nanoparticles – Hrkac Gino (University of Exeter)
🔷 Measurement procedures for magnetic properties in industrial environments – Peter Gebauer (Schaeffler)
🔷 Advances in magnetic material measurement and diagnostics – James McKenzie (Hirst Magnetic Instruments Ltd.)
🔷 New magnetic materials (TiMM4H) – @Theodoros Tsoulos (EPoS Technologies SA)
🔷 Recycled and bonded magnets – Karsten Rachut (Heraeus)
🔷 SmFeN as an alternative rare earth magnet material – @Thomas Schliesch (MAX BAERMANN GmbH)
🔷 Modelling magnet production chains to identify PCF reduction measures – Stephan Neuschaefer-Rube (Schaeffler)
🔷 Scaling up RE permanent magnet manufacturing with customized vacuum furnace – Giorgio Valsecchi (TAV VACUUM FURNACES)
🔷 Magnets and assemblies – @John Taylor (SG technologies Neo Magnequench)
🔷 Simulation validation for magnet and system design – Ben Pine (Dassault Systèmes)
🔷 Legal and policy challenges for rare earth supply chains – Jyoti Ahuja (University of Birmingham)
🔷 Critical minerals and criticality methodologies in the UK – Gavin Mudd (British Geological Survey)
🔷 Mine-to-metal strategy, critical mineral facilities and ASM acquisition – Debra Porter Bennethum (Energy Fuels Inc)
🔷 PM recycling in Germany and the EU – Carlo Burkhardt (Pforzheim University / HyProMag GmbH/ REEsilience)
🔷 Next-generation spintronic and 3D devices examined via electron holography – Trevor Almeida (University of Glasgow)
🔷 3D-printed NbTi SRF cavities – Tugrul Talha Ersoz (University of Birmingham)
🔷 Additive manufacturing for magnetic shielding components – Richard Sheridan (University of Birmingham)
🔷 Additive manufacturing of magnetic materials – Alfred Fernández Castañé (Aston University)
Looking forward to staying connected & continuing the conversations.
