Mägnety Amsterdam Event Highlight

Materials Week – The Magnetics Show Europe

2025.02.24-2025.02.26

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Mägnety attended The Magnetics Show Europe in Amsterdam. Materials Week Europe brings together The Magnetics Show Europe and other materials shows under one roof.

Great to have attended Amsterdam Materials WeekThe Magnetics Show Europe

It was a pleasure to be part of Amsterdam Materials Week again and spend time learning, exchanging ideas, and reconnecting with people across the materials and magnetics ecosystem.

I truly enjoyed diving into the latest industry trends, technical developments, and new capacity entrants, especially around NdFeB and related technologies. A few highlights from the conference sessions I had the chance to attend that stood out to me:

📊 Gained a deeper understanding of how Argus Media supports the industry with market intelligence on global rare earths and NdFeB, presented by Ronan Murphy (Argus Media).

♻️ An insightful session on the improved supply resilience and product sustainability of NdFeB recycling, presented by Mario Schönfeldt (Fraunhofer IWKS).

🧪 The patented 2-powder method introduced by Konrad Opelt (Fraunhofer IWKS), offering an interesting alternative processing route compared to the GBD process.

🔍 Valuable background on permanent magnets and novel manufacturing processes for fine-grained NdFeB powders with a steep particle size distribution, presented by Tayyab Ahmad (NETZSCH Grinding & Dispersing).

🧲 Strong and serious R&D efforts on bonded magnets and their next-generation applications, presented by Dr. Richard ARLOT (IMAG – Magnetics Intelligence).

🤖 2 Different AI applications and business models, showing how AI is increasingly shaping materials innovation beyond pure R&D. It was really impressive to speak with both and learn more about their respective strengths:

🔷 Sustainable magnetic materials development through AI-driven high throughput Lab presented by Thibaud Martin (altrove) .
🔷 Digital transformation in the chemical industry, presented by Kevin Meyer (Albert Invent).
🔷 Panel Discussions: How does AI impact production

Beyond the technical content, it was rewarding to make new connections, reconnect with familiar friends, and exchange new cooperation ideas through meaningful conversations.

I look forward to continuing to stay close to both technology and market developments.
Wishing everyone all the best in the weeks ahead — and hoping to meet again very soon at the next event. 🥂
